Why I Punched a Stranger

This part really stuck out to me, “three separate men or groups of men verbally harassed us - a very typical female experience.”
 “a very typical female experience.”
 A VERY TYPICAL FEMALE EXPERIENCE.

This article is about a lesbian couple, but it also made me think about what all women (gay, straight, bi) frequently deal with, just because we are women. I know not all men are like this, but women are harassed and regarded as “objects” constantly. If we fight back or stand up for ourselves, we become something else… a “dyke” a “slut,” a “bitch.”

I recently started online dating. This shit still applies. I tried to reply to every person that contacted me. If I didn’t reply soon enough, or expressed that I wasn’t interested, I got responses like, “you seem like a stuck-up bitch, anyway.” or “you’re not that hot anyway.” So I gave up. I closed my account.

When is enough enough? What ever happened to respect? We are all people and we are all equal. Women shouldn’t have to live their lives on the defense.

Some things I just don’t get.
